Thinking about giving up smoking? Find out tips to quit smoking
in this report.
If you've decided to give up smoking by going it alone, then you're
no doubt aware that it's not an easy task. By knowing and applying
the following tips, you'll stand a much higher chance of succeeding.
Tip 1: Know what the problem is.
The subconscious part of your brain's programmed to get you to carry
on smoking. To give up, this must be altered. Not smoking for a
prolonged period will solve this, but it takes time.
Tip 2: Forget the reason(s) why you started.
No one can turn back time. Dwelling on mistakes you made in the past
doesn't help you deal with the present. What matters now, is how you
deal with it.
Tip 3: Stay away from friends who smoke.
Not what you want to hear, but being around them will make it almost
impossible for you not to think about smoking.
Tip 4: Avoid stressful situations.
Much easier said than done, but stress really drains your willpower
and giving in to temptation, will be more appealing.
Tip 5: Stay away from nags.
Nags want to help, but don't realise that it normally has the
reverse effect, driving you to distraction and causing stress (which
we know is BAD).
Tip 6: Avoid comfort eating.
Withdrawal symptoms are unpleasant, but comfort eating will only
give you another problem to deal with, you're weight. There's no
point in beating one addiction just to have another.
Tip 7: Don't kid yourself.
Can you avoid smoking completely for a month? No, then you've got a
smoking addiction, simple as that. When giving up smoking, don't
make any excuses for lighting up again, they're not valid.
Difficult? Yes. But by going it alone you'll have the upper hand if
you apply these tips to quit smoking.
