Want to find out about the side effects of smoking? Learn the
horrifying consequences of smoking that no one ever considers.
Very few people don't know that smoking causes serious damage to
your health. It's common knowledge that it causes diseases such as
cancer, damage to the lungs and heart disease. But what other harm
can smoking do to a smoker? This may shock you but remember, not
knowing about them doesn't mean they'll never happen.
Side effects of smoking:
Higher blood pressure: Increased cholesterol from smoking
means that blood needs to be forced around the body at a higher
pressure. Hard to notice, until the heart attack or stroke.
Infertility (in both genders): Dangerous toxins in cigarettes
effect the reproductive organs making conception difficult.
Impotence: Constricted blood flow means erectile dysfunction.
It is estimated that up to 120,000 men have erectile dysfunction as
a result of smoking.
Worsens asthma: Not only that but can also counteract asthma
medicine by causing more inflammation of the airways that the
medicine normally eases.
Increases risk of cataracts: Toxins from cigarettes and poor
blood flow means damage to the eyes. Lesser effects are bloodshot
eyes and itchiness.
Increases the risk of periodontal disease: Swollen gums, bad
breath and teeth to fall out. Lesser effects are stained teeth and
gums.
Premature wrinkles: Less blood flow to the skin and reduced
levels of vitamin A (caused by smoking) means skin appears paler and
wrinkles form quicker.
Premature/underweight babies: pregnant women who smoke are
much more likely to give birth prematurely.
Feeling of emptiness: Smoking is an addiction. Anyone with an
addiction cannot have full control over their lives as they're
dependant on cigarettes.
Are you a smoker? Do any of the above sound like fun? Don't forget
also that these are just the side effects, the main effects are much
worse. It may be a good time to give up smoking.
