New ways to stop smoking

Interested in finding out effective new ways to stop smoking? Discover the truth about these new ways in this report.

If you asked any smoker whether they're proud of being a smoker, their answer would almost definitely be no. After all everyone knows that it causes series damage to their health. Find out more about health risks at www.netdoctor.co.uk/health_advice/facts/smokehealth.htm

I'm sure you've heard all this before. After all it's advertised on TV and in many other places as well. Despite all of the potential health risks, it never seems to be enough to get people to stop smoking

Why isn't reasoning enough, and what is?

Because in simple terms the mind is split up into two parts, the conscious and subconscious parts. Reasoning is a logical process in the conscious mind, whereas habits form in the subconscious part of the mind which is why people do things without thinking about them. Smoking is an addiction, more than a bad habit, meaning that it is so well programmed into the subconscious that withdrawal is very difficult.

Giving up smoking is very hard because it's stored deep in the subconscious mind and constantly tells the brain to carry on smoking. To give up smoking this deep desire to smoke must be removed from the subconscious.

How exactly is this done?

Lets just remind ourselves of the old fashioned way and why it's not a good idea.

Going cold turkey

Giving up straight away using willpower alone. Eventually the smoking addiction disappears.

Yes this can happen but is certainly not likely.

Why? Willpower is a conscious thought, the addiction is subconscious. Giving up straight away means a battle goes on between the two parts of the mind. This causes stress and withdrawal symptoms, in fact many people comfort eat to hide these problems and put on weight.

As for getting the subconscious to give in, it's much more likely that your willpower gives in because of the difference in size. (The subconscious is much larger).

Hopefully now in this day and age modern medicine should make giving up smoking easy.

But does it actually work?

Lets have a look at two of the new ways to stop smoking.

Nicotine Patches

I'm sure you've seen these on the TV, tons of adverts saying they've got the answer to all smokers problems out there.

Is this true?

Well the idea of nicotine patches is to replace nicotine cravings (nicotine is the addictive substance in cigarettes) and reducing the number over time.

Surprisingly though, virtually everyone who's tried them says that they're completely useless. Even if they did work, they just replace the addiction but don't get to the route of the problem. They're not cheap either.

If you're a smoker by all means try this method but don't expect miracles (or anything at all)

Hypnosis

Strictly speaking not a new way, but only recently has hypnotherapy become possible to use at low cost and without leaving the house.

Hypnosis means talking directly to the subconscious part of the mind and get rid of the addiction without using willpower.

Not many people even think of this way because they don't know what it is. For those who know why giving up smoking is so hard (which this article tells you) hypnosis is the holy grail.

Just getting rid of a smoking addiction without the stress or withdrawal symptoms and not even having to think about it.

Recommended for anyone who is prepared to relax and listen to a recording for a short amount of time each day.
